It was a night of celebration for Kim Duffin awarded with two titles, including the prestigious Australian Certified Designer of the Year award, at the 2009 KBDi Kitchen & Bathroom Design Awards.  Kim also receives an all inclusive trip to Eurocucina 2010 - International Kitchen Furniture Trade Show in Milan, Italy.

The Kitchen and Bathroom Designers Institute of Australia (KBDi) is proud to announce the finest kitchen and bathroom designers in Australia as awarded at the first ever KBDi Kitchen & Bathroom Design Awards.  The Awards were held in front of an audience representing Australia’s leading designers and industry professionals at the Holiday Inn on the Gold Coast on Saturday 12 September.

The judges commented that “This kitchen was designed for an active young family – on the go, who wanted a funky vibrant space that acted as both a place to prepare daily meals but also somewhere to come together as a family. The flowing lines, vibrant colours and high level functionality are features of this unusual kitchen.” The criteria for the Certified Designer of the year award places considerable emphasis on the technical aspects of design and presentation, including the ergonomics and safety guidelines  in kitchen layout, quality of the drawings, specifications and design statement. The judges commented that this entry was “a beautifully presented design which displays complete professionalism. A clever design which clearly met the client’s brief”.

Congratulating all the winners, KBDi Executive Director Alex Milne said the Awards recognise the achievements of individual designers represented in Australia who lead the way in design, innovation and technology of kitchens and bathrooms.

“We were overwhelmed with the support received from designers Australia-wide for these inaugural Awards”, Alex Milne said. “Not only were we excited with the number of entries but more importantly the quality of entries.  The Awards are a strong statement of the commitment of KBDi members to deliver quality design and not afraid to be innovative and creative in their designs”.

Mr Milne said the Awards night had been well supported by the kitchen and bathroom industry. “Without the involvement of our many partners, important industry events like this would not be possible,” he said

KBDi is the only national organisation exclusively for kitchen and bathroom designers. The KBDi Awards acknowledges the excellence in design, innovation, talent and professionalism of certified kitchen and bathroom designers.
